What’s New in Breakfast?

A wise man once said that all happiness depends on a leisurely breakfast, and we couldn’t agree more. Our repeater guests might also agree that our breakfast buffet at DONBIU is more than just an early morning meal; it has become an important ritual you cannot miss during your holiday at Padma Resort Legian. That’s why we keep enhancing it to give you a better experience every time. While we cannot cross the traditional English breakfast off the list (because who doesn’t love eggs and bacon in the morning?), we have added a few local favourites and homemade sourdough to boost your energy before a day of activities.

Colourful Sourdough

Eating well doesn’t have to be boring, and there’s nothing like the smell of freshly baked bread in the morning. Start the day with our colourful homemade sourdough, made using natural food dyes from our locally grown garden. Choose from the Butterfly Pea, Yellow Turmeric, to Dusky Black Charcoal sourdough to enjoy with your morning tea or coffee. These new creations are available in both DONBIU and Club Lounge breakfast.

Ps. We also have gluten-free bread options. Please inform our friendly team if you need assistance or if you have other dietary requirements. We are more than happy to provide for you.

Nasi Goreng, like the street vendors

Have a taste of Indonesian street foods without leaving the hotel. Spot our local food corner in DONBIU and find Indonesians’ most popular breakfast, Nasi Goreng. Served in a traditional wagon we call Gerobak, Nasi Goreng is served a la minute with choices of meat, vegetables, and condiments. It’s considered one of the most delicious cuisines in the world due to its simple yet unbeatable taste. Want to recreate your Padma holiday and cook your own at home? Learn how to cook Nasi Goreng the Padma way from one of our latest blog posts, using accessible ingredients and easy-to-follow steps.

The healthy carbs options

Rice is a staple food in Indonesia that can be found in most households. But in some parts of the country, cassava and sweet potatoes have been used as a substitute for rice. They are cheaper than rice because they can be harvested multiple times a year and are also a healthier alternative. Indonesians enjoy soft-boiled cassava or sweet potatoes with a warm cup of black coffee in the afternoon. To experience a true Indonesian afternoon tea, you can try them from the local corner in the DONBIU breakfast buffet.

Jamu your way to good health

Dubbed the healing drink, Indonesian Jamu is here to upscale your breakfast experience. It is an ancient herbal medicine consumed for centuries to treat many health issues. Made from herbal roots such as turmeric, curcuma, and ginger, each blend of jamu has its benefits. These days, many drink Jamu regularly to boost their immune system and prevent seasonal flu. Don’t be discouraged by the seemingly ominous colours and flavours of Jamu. It all came from the extract of nutritious roots.

The hardest part of your breakfast will be choosing which one to enjoy first. Do you start with fruits and omelettes or go straight to Nasi Goreng like a true local? There are no rules when you’re on holiday. Try everything, enjoy your morning, and selamat makan!
