If you have been to Padma Resort Legian before, chances are you are already familiar with our Japanese restaurant, Tenkai, famous for its teppanyaki. Since last year, we have elevated the dining experience at Tenkai by introducing a unique Japanese Nikkei menu – a harmonious mix of Japanese and Peruvian dishes by Chef Sandro, hailing from Lima. We know that everyone has their favourites at Tenkai, and it can take a lot of work to venture beyond our culinary comfort zones sometimes. But in Bahasa Indonesia, we have a saying, “tak kenal maka tak sayang,” meaning “One cannot develop a fondness for something unfamiliar.” So, let us introduce you to these exceptional highlighted dishes that are too good to miss while you’re here.

Anticuchos 

In short, anticuchos are the Japanese Nikkei equivalent of Satay, one of Peru’s most beloved dishes, which holds such prestige that it even has its own national day on 17 October. These tantalising skewers, slightly spicy and bursting with flavours, are traditionally crafted from marinated meats. At Tenkai, you will discover a delightful assortment of anticuchos selections. From beef, chicken, and prawn to vegetarian options like shiitake, and asparagus, we’ve got something for everyone.

Ceviche A Lo Nikkei

Looking for the perfect appetiser to start your dining experience? Look no further than our famous Ceviche A Lo Nikkei. Crafted by our talented Peruvian Chef, Sandro, this dish features fresh tuna and a tantalising blend of tamarind, tiger’s milk, soy sauce, wakame, katsuobushi, and tobiko. Unlike anything you’ve ever tasted, each bite will offer a perfect balance of zesty, tangy, and savoury notes.

Nigiri Harasukei

Find the diverse array of nigiri options available here, masterfully crafted by the talented Chef Sandro with a touch of Peruvian magic. But there’s one that truly stands out among the other stars; Nigiri Harasukei. Imagine the allure of black sushi rice, complete with the texture of a salmon belly, enhanced by a tantalising miso glaze and adorned with delicate sesame seeds. Sake Misoyu

Taste as the smoky essence of grilled salmon dances perfectly with the delightful miso yuzu glaze. And that’s not all! Accompanied by asparagus, pumpkin, eggplant, and carrot, this culinary masterpiece is an irresistible combination you simply can’t resist. 

Tako Quinomar 

Prepare to have your taste buds pleasantly surprised, even if you’ve never been a fan of octopus. Delight in the flavours of tender, chewy octopus, braised to perfection in a tantalising blend of rocoto chilli, and oyster sauce, and served alongside a comforting quinoa stew.
