Sweat like nobody’s business

Expect the heat! Located only a few degrees south of the equator, Bali has a tropical climate all year long, hence the saying “it’s summer forever in Bali”. The average temperature in Bali is 31 degrees celcius so don’t forget to pack up your swimmers, singlets, shorts, and sandals.

 

Wet and Dry

There are only two seasons in Bali; wet and dry. If you’re not a fan of rainy days and humid weather, the best time to visit Bali is during the dry season, May to September. Around June to August is even better because it’s when the nice cool breeze starts to come.

 

Nyepi day

Aside from the two seasons, what you need to know before booking your first trip to Bali is that there’s a Day of Silence, also known as Nyepi. During Nyepi, the whole island stops working for 24 hours. There is no electricity, no activities, even the airport shuts for one day. It is a special day for the Hindus to meditate and appreciate the universe. It generally happens around March, so check again before you fly.

 

Don’t count on the public transport

Yes, there are a few buses in Bali, but the common way Bali locals get around is by car or scooter. Bali traffic can be unpredictable so for your first Bali trip it is suggested to rent a car with a driver who knows Bali by heart.

 

Bali belly no more

One thing that most travelers are not aware of when visiting Bali for the first time is that our tap water is not drinkable. Don’t get Bali belly and drink water from the bottles served in all restaurants throughout Bali.
